FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 9, 2026

New platform brings recurring events, multi-city discovery, Google and Apple Calendar sync, audience categories, and community discussion to one central hub for the region.

GRANITE CITY, IL — Wildfire CityPages, the community platform serving dozens of communities across the Illinois and Missouri sides of the St. Louis metropolitan area, today announced the release of Version 26, headlined by a fully redesigned Events and Calendar module. The new system gives individuals, community organizations, and businesses a simple and powerful way to publish, discover, and keep track of local events across the region.

A Central Calendar for the St. Louis Region

At the heart of v26 is a visual, date-driven calendar that displays events across every community on the platform. Visitors can browse by month, click any date to see what is happening, and filter by event type or audience. A new "Explore Another City" feature lets residents look up what is happening in neighboring towns across the metro area without leaving their home city page.

Recurring Events Built for Real Community Life

Version 26 introduces full recurring event support, a first for CityPages. Event organizers can now schedule events that repeat weekly, every other week, or monthly, by date or by pattern such as "the second Thursday of every month." The platform automatically generates upcoming occurrences up to twelve months in advance, keeps the calendar current, and gives owners full control to edit, cancel individual dates, add notes to specific occurrences, or end a series at any time.

Calendar Sync with Google, Apple, and Outlook

Every event on CityPages v26 can be saved directly to a personal calendar with a single click. The platform supports one-click Add to Google Calendar as well as downloadable .ics files fully compatible with Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and any other iCalendar application. Recurring events export with the full recurrence rule intact, so subscribers automatically receive every future occurrence.

Events for Every Audience

The new Events module introduces audience categories and event types so residents can find what matters to them. Organizers tag events with the intended audience, from family-friendly and youth-focused to adult and all-ages, and with an event type such as networking, arts, sports, civic, or fundraiser. Filters on the calendar homepage let visitors narrow results instantly.

Community Discussion on Every Event

Each event page includes a threaded discussion so attendees and organizers can ask questions, share updates, and connect before and after the event. Event owners can set reply permissions, open to everyone, restricted to verified residents of a specific city or state, or announcement-only. Individual posts can be edited within 48 hours, keeping conversations accurate without losing context.

Additional Highlights of Version 26

Business Events: Businesses with a CityPages listing can post events under their brand, connecting promotions and gatherings directly to their business profile.

Occurrence Notes: Organizers can attach a short note to any individual occurrence, ideal for noting a guest speaker, venue change, or special theme for that date.

Multi-City Coverage: Events span the full Illinois and Missouri metro area. Residents anywhere in the region can post to or browse the calendar.

Full Event Management: Owners can edit all event details including recurrence rules at any time. The platform automatically rebuilds the schedule when the rule changes.

Soft Cancellation: Cancelling a single occurrence preserves the series. Past dates and discussion threads remain visible for record-keeping.

"I believe this can be THE central calendar for all things in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, giving individuals and businesses a simple way to share things to do. Let's get out and do things." George Sykes, Wildfire CityPages
